Building any kind of business is hard. And there’s really no such thing as an overnight success. When you start digging into the stories of the people around you that are successful you’ll find they’ve been doing the same thing for many years. They probably had many failed products or business ventures before the success that they are now known for.
If you’re starting a new business you need to plan for the long haul and start out small. Work on your project when you have time, work towards your goal everyday. It might just be twenty minutes or a few hours here and there, but it all adds up. You don’t need to quit your job or get outside investment. Start a project on the side and if you’re really passionate about it you’ll make it work. When you look back in six months times, you’ll be amazed at how far you’ve already come.
Many people fail because they lose interest after a few months, they flit around and get bored when their project or business is not instantly successful. I believe the secret to my own success is that I stuck with it: I had no idea what I was doing when I started ten years ago, but I stuck with it and am now considered an expert in the field of building and shipping apps.
